Water, Banjo Earth Band’s First Album, is out August 12!

It’s been about 2 years in the making, but it’s finally here! The debut album from the Banjo Earth Band will be available to stream, purchase, and enjoy starting August 12, 2022.

The Banjo Earth Band was started as a live performance vehicle for my Banjo Earth project. In Banjo Earth, I travel around the world to different countries, exploring the music and culture of each country, and making amazing friends along the way.

In each destination, we record a musical album of the collaborations, and create a documentary film series highlighting the adventures of each journey. Fashioned as a sort of “Anthony Bourdain of the banjo,” I aim to bring the world closer through music and storytelling, doing my best to inspire others to get out on the trail of their own adventures in the world.

Upon returning from my musical journeys, venues and events begin reaching out for live performances from Banjo Earth. Thus, I began the work of putting together a group that could play these songs I was capturing from around the world. That was the beginning of the Banjo Earth Band!

Through Covid and the subsequent shutdowns of live music, we began creating what would become our first album, Water. Recorded at Earthtones Studios in Greensboro, North Carolina, and engineered by Benjy Johnson, the album represents a wonderful slice of what the band is all about…Music from around the world mixed with Appalachian bluegrass banjo flavors. The result is an intergalactic worldgrass explosion of sound and texture.

We will celebrate the release with a very special performance of the album and some other music at the Carolina Theater in Greensboro NC on Aug 12, 2022 at 8pm. The album is also available for Pre-Order on our website, and will be streaming on all of your favorite platforms. All the links can be found at the bottom of this article.
